Hi fellow writer! If you’re here, it probably means you’re looking for a group to share your writing with. Or maybe you’re wondering what exactly a critique group is. In case you’re unfamiliar, a critique group is a small group of people who meet regularly to share and edit each other’s work for free.
Critique groups are essential for writers who want to publish their work. It is a safe, comfortable space for us to share while still being honest with each other. It’s not ALL about edits, either. Most of the “edits” we give are little notes of things we love about your story.
I was part of a now-disbanded critique group for 5+ years, and it was a great outlet for community, creativity, and staying motivated to write regularly. We had writers who brought in poetry, cooking blog posts, research papers, thrillers, rom-coms, YA fiction, historical romance fiction, and fantasy (can you guess who that was?). I’ve been looking for other writers to form a new group, but spots are limited. Let me know if this is something you’d be interested in by contacting me!
